The sleep foundation bought out a guideline considering how many hours is needed for the children to sleep in a period of 24 hours.

  • Newborns, age range birth to 2 months: 10.5 – 18 hours
  • Infants, age range 3 to 11 months: 9-12 hours
  • Toddlers age range 1 to 3 years: 12-14 hours
  • Preschoolers, age 3 to 5 years: 11-13 hours
  • School- age range 5-12 years: 10-11 hours
  • Adolescent, age range 12 to 18 years: at least 8 1/2 hours

Not every child who is struggling to get enough and proper sleep shows the symptom of being sleep deprived.  Sleep deprivation may cause rapid mood swing, whine, hyperactivity, sluggish response times, learning complications, and weight difficulties.

 

Tips for child’s proper and enough sleep

Now, let’s have a look on some tips for your young busy boy’s enough end proper sleep.

  1. Create and follow a consistent sleep plan from an early age – inspire nap timetables for young children and unchanging sleep time for older children
  2. Encourage a relaxing bed time routine – warm bath, reading, soft lighting. relaxing background music
  3. Keep a soothing and calming nap environment – nonchalant, silent, and dim.
  4. Allow for some of free down phase – no planned doings like game or other extra-curricular deeds through this phase
  5. Morning and mid-day natural open-air light exposure – rest is definitely a good thing! Spending time at outdoors really benefits to develop child’s sleep at night.
  6. Switch off all the electronics and devices they use at least 30 minutes before going to bed. – TV and video games offer too much exhilaration to allow child to sufficiently wind down for sleep time
  7. Explain children the significance of enough and proper sleep routines for a dynamic body and mind. Sleep is worthy for general physical and mental development.
  8. If you notice any sign in your kid which is addressing issues of anxiety or misery that are disturbing their sleep, try to speak about the problems and find whether they need any professional help to overcome this issue.
  9. For being sure that your kid is getting enough, proper and sound sleep and they do not have any sleep disorder, visit to the doctor and do regular checkups.
  10. Avoid meals before bedtime. Try to give them a cup of worm milk, light snakes or fruits.
